Księga wieczysta (land register) is an official document that contains information about the legal status of real estate in Poland.
You can and should look in it:
- Information about the owner of the real estate: information about the current owner and ownership rights.
- Description of the property: address, area, type and other characteristics.
- Encumbrances and restrictions: mortgages, easements, seizures and other restrictions on the use or disposal of the property.
- Rights of third parties: information about the rights that other persons may have in relation to the real estate.
To use księga wieczysta you need to know its number, for this purpose you should ask the owner to provide the book number.
You can check the information online through the website of UEKW, where you can see all the current data about the property.
